Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the Sick

The Problem: While most of our separated brethren do not take much issue with this sacrament (apart from asking for the Scriptural justification every once in a great while), it is also the case that essentially no Church except the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches ever DOES what Scripture commands in this regard.

The Truth: The anointing with oil by the elders of the church is for the healing of the body and the forgiveness of sins.

James 5:14-15 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Mk 6:12-13 So they went out and preached that men should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.

Does your Christian denomination do this? If not, why did they stop? This is what God commands. Is
your church doing everything God commands?
